Castors & Industries

Theme Parks

Used on rollercoaster rides to offer better & better thrills. The casters have advanced to cope with the strain of the ride on the track including large amounts of heat, friction and the force of gravity and momentum. Rollercoasters are likely to have wheels with a steel core and polyurethane tyre, they provide strength and smooth running. Smaller rides and even snack trolleys also feature casters.

On hospital beds, laundry carts, IV poles, food service carts, cleaning carts and more. Casters are simply everywhere in hospitals and the medical industry, making sure food and supplies get to patients quickly. The wrong type of castor can be disruptive due to the noise due to having no bearings or being constructed in the wrong tread material. It can also make carts extremely tricky to push and steer which is vital when patients need supplies quickly.

Scaffolding is a temporary structure to aid workers carrying out the repair, construction or maintenance of a building. Wheels and casters are used under scaffolds so that it’s simple to move to the section of building that needs work on it doing. The scaffolding featuring casters are usually used for smaller jobs, whereas the large structures you see at the side of big buildings aren’t moveable

The aviation industry features extremely heavy parts so any wheels and casters used must be able to handle this, they’re used in plane and spaceship assembly as well as ground support. When assembling planes, heavy-duty casters and wheels are fitted under carts which transport parts to assist in the completion of the airplane. Ground support uses casters in the transport of heavy loads like luggage from the indoors and outdoors in several weather conditions.

Trolleys, racks and cages – the casters have to be able to handle a variety of temperatures from freezing cold to boiling hot. Industrial freezers can hold temperatures of -21ᵒC while bakery ovens can go up to 260ᵒC. Casters & wheels can be put into thermal shock due to a swift change in temperature, such as removing a rack from a freezer and laying it into an oven, therefore, they have to be constructed in thermosetting plastics, composites and epoxy resins that can cope with this temperature shift. Old casters consisted of cast iron wheels that were loud and not the best for temperature changes.

food industry

In garages for repairing vehicles and in vehicle manufacturing factories. Casters are used on carts for the transport of materials, parts and tools. They’re also used for forklift-free programs to enhance safety and production rate, by using a tugger cart system instead of a forklift, accidents can be avoided.

Waste and Recycling

Wheels and casters are used within many different applications in waste management. Castors are used on wheelie bins, waste containers, dust bins, dumpsters and more. The casters should handle a huge amount of weight and various weather conditions from usually being kept and moved outside.

Normally placed under chairs, sofas, tables, footrests, beds, desks, lights and more, wheels and casters are ideal for creating transportable furniture. Making furniture slide easily across the floor so that the transportation and reorganisation of them is extremely easy. Light duty casters are usually used for furniture, they usually come with plastic wheels and aren’t expected to support too much weight.

As well as all of the industries above, we also supply our castors to the water treatment, crane, glass, clean room, pallet truck, production and mechanical handling industry. You can browse all of the products suited to every single one of these industries using the ‘product’ button and navigating to the industry you want to view.
