Nylon and polyurethane wheels
Nylon and polyurethane are widely used for food-industry applications. Polyurethane provides excellent wear resistance, load support and is often kinder to floors. Nylon is strong, with good rolling and sliding behaviour, and performs well in many chilled and ambient environments.
Stainless-steel components
For metal brackets, housings or any metal portions exposed to washdowns, stainless steel helps prevent corrosion and supports hygiene. For some lower-risk areas, high-quality zinc-plated components may be suitable, but stainless steel is often preferred in high-care zones.
Non-marking, easy-clean treads
In food areas, you typically want wheels that do not shed material or leave marks on floor surfaces. Treads should be non-marking and designed not to trap debris, helping to keep floors cleaner and reducing the risk of contamination.
Temperature-rated materials
Whether you are dealing with cold rooms (down to -20 °C or below) or areas close to ovens and cooking lines, ensure the wheel material remains dimensionally stable and retains its load capacity under temperature swings.
